Watch Pitch Perfect Outdoors in Santa Monica

pitch perfect beca

Eat|See|Hear is back for the summer! We’re kicking off the 2015 season on Saturday, May 9, in Santa Monica with a screening of the amazing 2012 smash hit PITCH PERFECT. We showed it last year, and are stoked to be able to bring it back as this year’s opening night film—just a week before the sequel, Pitch Perfect 2, is out in theaters.

Even if you saw Pitch Perfect before, you’re sure to enjoy seeing it again. It has a great story line: Beca (Anna Kendrick), a freshman at Barden University, is cajoled into joining The Bellas, her school’s all-girls a cappella singing group. The Bellas take on their male rivals in a campus competition, and Beca takes it upon herself to help the Bellas find their new look and sound.

It’s going to be a fun-filled evening. We’ll be hosting this event at Santa Monica High School’s Memorial Greek Amphitheater, located at 601 Pico Blvd. The movie starts at 8:30 pm, but doors open at 5:30 pm. Arrive early so you can choose your seats, but the view is great within this amphitheater. Because this venue is amphitheater there is concrete seating, so you’ll want to bring seat cushions, pillows or blankets so you can be more comfy.

Chances are, you’re going to want to get something to eat before show time. There will be a lineup of food trucks on site, ready to serve up a wide variety of snacks and entrees, from nachos and ice cream, to burgers, seafood and BBQ chicken. Just to give you a sampling, Chancos Tacos, Baby’s Badass Burgers, Cousins Maine Lobster, Komodo, Greasy Wiener, and Coolhaus and Brasil Kiss are all slated to be there, among other vendors.

For your listening pleasure, Molly Moore will take the stage at around 7 pm. In addition, the Santa Monica Chorus will be giving a special a cappella performance.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Our Fashionably Late sponsor, Air New Zealand, will welcome everyone attending with a chance to win a round-trip flight for two to Australia. Not only that, Universal Studios has will be giving away a bunch of super-cool Pitch Perfect 2 promos, plus two lucky attendees will win a pair of tickets to the Pitch Perfect 2 premiere on May 12th!

You’re not going to want to miss out on this great opportunity to go “Down Under,” so don’t wait to order your tickets. Advance tickets can be purchased online, at $10 each for general admission, and $8 for kids 12 and under.

Some other important details: The closest parking lot to the Memorial Greek Amphitheater is across the street at the Civic Center parking structure at 333 Civic Center Drive. Don’t forget to pay before you get to your car at the end of the evening. Please enter the venue through the walkway on 4th Street, between the track and DoubleTree Hotel; this is the only entrance to this event.

Don’t forget that all Eat|See|Hear events are always dog friendly, and four-legged friends are greeted with free biscuits at the door. We hope you to see you—and your canine buddy—this coming Saturday in Santa Monica!

Watch Super Troopers Outdoors in Santa Monica

Share the experience with your friends and revel in the shenanigans of Vermont State Troopers on Saturday, July 26 when we show Super Troopers outdoors in Santa Monica.

Starring the Broken Lizard comedy group, Super Troopers follows five Troopers in the remote fictional Vermont town of Spurbury near the Canadian border as they band together to save their station and their jobs and solve a crime before the local police department.

On Saturday, we’re screening this cult-classic comedy on the biggest outdoor movie screen west of the Mississippi River at the Memorial Greek Amphitheater at Santa Monica High School. This venue provides built-in seating for a truly unique outdoor cinema experience, so chairs aren’t necessary but we do recommend bringing blankets, cushions or pillows. There is also a small lawn area near the front, so if you want to stretch out arrive early to snag that spot!

This venue hosts many of our events each year, some of which have sold out. Don’t miss the opportunity to watch Super Troopers in a cinema al fresco setting in Santa Monica — purchase your tickets in advance online and arrive early to claim your seats. The only entrance to the event is on 4th Street between the track and the DoubleTree Hotel.

Eat|See|Hear is more than just a movie – it’s an experience complete with live music, and some amazing street food from LA’s favorite food trucks including  Steel City Sandwich, Vizzi Truck, Burnt to a Crisp Texas BBQ, Umami Burger, Ta Bom, Coolhaus, Brasil Kiss and many more. Don’t forget to bring your dog, as all Eat|See|Hear events welcome friendly leashed dogs with open paws, free biscuits at the door and water bowls around the venue.

Before the movie, enjoy the indie pop sounds of Opus Orange, who will perform live on stage at 7PM. Doors to the event open at 5:30PM, so you have plenty of time to arrive and grab some grub before the movie starts at 8:30PM.
