Date City Venue
09/15/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Los Angeles Westwood Recreation Center
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 1350 South Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025.
MOVIE: THE KARATE KID
MUSIC: SO MANY WIZARDS
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Jeff: I’ve been told the latest installment of the franchise was good but the ORIGINAL is the best. A poor kid from the JRZ gets plopped in Reseda and tries to fit in and make something of himself while the wealthier, snobbier natives try to keep him down. That tale is as old as Los Angeles. Throw in Mr. Miyagi, “wax on, wax off” and the Cobra Kai and you get one of the greatest movies ever made. “Strike fast, Strike hard, NO MERCY SIR!”

09/08/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Northridge Northridge City Little League
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 18755 Devonshire Street Northridge, California 91324.
MOVIE: THREE AMIGOS
MUSIC: PK
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Drew: When I was a kid, my parents would record movies off of network tv direct to VCR to save money. I first saw three amigos on a recording from a CBS’s “Saturday Night Movie”. I watch it so many time I can still quote the commercials and news clips that played during the breaks! I never consciously thought about FCC content restrictions in the 80′s, so as an adult it was like rediscovering the film all over when I viewed it again after a 10 year hiatus.

Sharon: I remember when I saw Fast Times for the first time, I thought LA must have been the greatest place to live. Having grown up in a beach town on the east coast, all the guys thought they were Spicoli (they weren’t). High School was (portrayed) much different(ly) than what I experienced although our parties were pretty spectacular. I just love everything about this movie and it brings me back to what life felt like as a teen in the 80s.

JJ: Quentin Tarantino does a great job directing this film. It reminds me of staying up late watching Kung Fu movies, especially those with Bruce Lee.

08/25/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Long Beach Marina Green Park
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 386 East Shoreline Dr. Long Beach, CA 90802.
Long Beach Cinematheque Presents:
MOVIE: PRETTY IN PINK
MUSIC: LA FONT
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks
PARKING: Parking along Marina Green Park will be free after the first 2 hours you pay for. Alternate/overflow parking option is across the street at the convention center for $10.

Sharon: I was the quintessential 1980′s teenager: Hung out with the Andie/Duckie crowd (all 4 of us). Had crushes on the popular boys. Spent my time listening to music, hanging out in record stores, going to shows and working at various radio stations. I could totally relate to everything that this movie is, including the Psych Furs theme song.

08/18/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Beverly Hills La Cienega Park
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 8400 Gregory Way Beverly Hills, CA 90211.
MOVIE: GHOSTBUSTERS
MUSIC: MONTE MAR and VINNIE FERRA
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Jeff: I saw it last year at the Arclight when it was playing and knew it would be 10 times better on a 3 1/2 story movie screen – for Mr. Stay Puff alone! Ghostbusters is the only movie I have seen in a theater more than 7 times. It NEVER gets old. “My girlfriend sleeps above the covers….4 FEET above the covers”. Bill Murray. Genius.

08/11/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Hollywood Hollywood Recreation Center
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: R. Address: 1122 Cole Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90038.
MOVIE: FRIDAY
MUSIC: ALEX MAC
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Drew: For a white kid from the suburbs that’s never touched a joint… I’m pretty sure I’ve quoted this movie with friends more times that I can count. After a while I think we’ve managed to turn Friday and Don’t be a Menace… into one long crazy ass movie with all the confusion over what line came from what movie.

08/04/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Long Beach Marina Green Park
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: R. Address: 386 East Shoreline Dr. Long Beach, CA 90802.
Long Beach Cinematheque Presents:
MOVIE: PURPLE RAIN
MUSIC: ACT AS IF
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Jeff: This is one of my all time favorite movies and soundtracks. It was the first movie my family ever watched together on the (and I date myself here) VCR. Needless to say, Mom was not happy by the time the bedroom scene w. Appolonia came on. The Kid is the kind of flawed, wounded, but redemptive character that always appealed to me and I STILL get teary when those first guitar chords on Purple Rain start.

07/28/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Brentwood Paul Revere Charter Middle School
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 1450 Allenford Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90049.
MOVIE: THE PRINCESS BRIDE
MUSIC: STATE TO STATE
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks
FREE PARKING!: On site – please enter on Allenford Ave just south of Sunset and follow signs to the event entrance.

Sarah: The Princess Bride was a staple in my family’s household. One time we went to an outdoor showing in Seattle (close to where I grew up) and the woman who played the shrieking eel in the film was there. She performed her “shriek” during the respective scene in the film. I was pretty young and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.

07/21/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in North Hollywood North Hollywood Recreation Center
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG-13. Address: 11430 Chandler Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91601.
MOVIE: TOMMY BOY
MUSIC: NIGHTMARE AND THE CAT
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

JJ: Chris Farley was the Jim Belushi of my time. Tommy Boy is one of his funniest flicks ever and I look forward to watching it on the screen once again!

07/14/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in San Pedro Bloch Field at The Port of Los Angeles
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG-13. Address: 1500 S Harbor Blvd. San Pedro, CA 90731.
MOVIE: PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE
MUSIC: MAX & THE MOON
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer |Food Trucks
FREE PARKING: Continue down S Harbor Blvd (name changes to Viaduct St). At the bottom of Viaduct/S Harbor, turn LEFT onto 22nd St. The parking lot will be on your LEFT. Park your car and walk up to the venue. Address for parking lot is 116 East 22nd St, San Pedro.Tip: Drop your party off at the venue & then park your car

Sharon: I love the vibrancy this film has. The offbeat sense of humor. The Tequila dance, the fashions, the characters, the sense of adventure! And the fact that this movie became a TV show that had a revolving door of “who’s who” actors… The movie is just so much fun!

07/07/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Downtown Los Angeles FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) / Grand Hope Park
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: R. Address: 919 South Grand Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90015.
MOVIE: DAZED & CONFUSED
MUSIC: THE LITTLE ONES
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks

Jeff: As far as I’m concerned this is the best “it happens over a day” film ever made. It never fails to resonate, cause a chuckle or make me nostalgic for a 70′s childhood I didn’t have. It’s the only context that I ever need to hear Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” in. And of course, one of the best lines about high schools ever spoken. :) It surprises me how many people still haven’t scene this film. It is an American classic.

06/30/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Brentwood Paul Revere Charter Middle School
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG-13. Address: 1450 Allenford Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90049.
MOVIE: ZOOLANDER
MUSIC: AQUARIUM DRUNKARD PRESENTS THE ORWELLS
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks
FREE PARKING!: On site – please enter on Allenford Ave just south of Sunset and follow signs to the event entrance.

Sarah: Let’s be honest, Zoolander is an incredibly ridiculous movie. It’s definitely a film that gets funnier with repetition. It’s become a classic to my generation and Derek’s signature look “Blue Steel” even has a “how to” page online. Better yet, people are still teaching their babies to do it. Now that’s brilliant marketing…

06/23/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Santa Monica Memorial Greek Theater at Santa Monica High School

Review | Trailer | Food Trucks
PARKING: Civic Center parking lot across the street or on street parking (read signs!) ENTRANCE: Please enter through the walkway on 4th Street between the track and the DoubleTree Hotel. This is the ONLY entrance to this event.

JJ: The Dude is one of my favorite characters due to his simplicity in life. There is nothing that the dude cant fix with a white russian and a high pitched “You got the wrong man, I am the dude.”

06/16/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in San Pedro Bloch Field at The Port of Los Angeles
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $8 / $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG. Address: 1500 S Harbor Blvd. San Pedro, CA 90731.

Sarah: The Goonies was HUGE growing up! I swear there was a period of time when I would hear “HEY YOU GUYYYYS!” being yelled down the halls in high school on the daily.

Sarah: I remember the first time I saw “The Wedding Singer,” and doubling over in laughter when Adam Sandler sang “Somebody Kill Me” to Julia when he’s competing for a gig with Jon Lovitz’ character. My family and I had the whole thing memorized and would sing along at the top of our lungs every time. Still to this day when that movie comes up, we all start singing in unison.

05/26/12 http://eatseehear.com Eat|See|Hear in Santa Monica Memorial Greek Theater at Santa Monica High School
Time: 5:30pm. Admission: $10 / $20. Age restrictions: PG-13. Address: 600 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, California 90404.
MOVIE: ANCHORMAN
MUSIC: ISLANDS and THE DIAMOND LIGHT
Doors: 5:30pm | Band: 7pm | Movie: 8:30pm
Review | Trailer | Food Trucks
PARKING: Civic Center parking lot across the street or on street parking (read signs!)

Drew: I loved seeing films that are shot on location in places where you’ve lived. Being from San Diego, I had to laugh at all the totally inaccurate set ups of my hometown. I especially enjoyed the giant mountain top where Ron & Veronica share a romantic moment in their car, all while the view of downtown at that point of the film geographically puts them right in the middle of a very sea level Coronado Island! Also, I’ve had the hots for Christina Applegate since I saw Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead at age 12!
