Boogie Nights at Our Downtown LA Drive In Movie

For our downtown LA drive in movie this week we will be showing Boogie Nights, starring Mark Wahlberg, at the Los Angeles Trade Tech College (400 W Washington Blvd  Los Angeles, CA 90015) on Saturday, June 29, 2013. This is a really fun movie, and we will also be enjoying live music by local artists Honeypie, presented by Oragami Vinyl, and awesome food by some of the best food trucks in LA:

Flatiron Truck, offering farm to table cuisine like pork burgers, farmer’s market salads, and fried cauliflower.

Coolhaus, serving ice cream, cakes, and artisan marshmallows—among other sweet treats.

The drive in movie starts at 8:30 pm, but come early to take advantage of the food trucks and enjoy Honeypie, a Huntington Beach-based indie-folk band formed by Trisha Smith and Darian Zahedi that has been compared to other indie darlings like She & Him and Feist. Santa Monica Food Truck and Movie Event Presenting Say Anything on June 22

Join us this Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Santa Monica High School (601 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405) for our showing of Say Anything, possibly one of the greatest high school romance films of all time (who can resist John Cusack and his boom box?)

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $20 for popchips-sponsored “Fashionably Late” premium seating tickets, both of which can be pre-ordered at There will be some tickets available at the door for $12, but we recommend buying online and coming early to grab a seat and a snack and listen to some tunes provided by Max and the Moon. Enjoy Food Trucks in LA During Our Showing of Fight Club June 15

This week we’re showing David Fincher’s adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club Saturday, June 15 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park (1245 N. Spring St. Los Angeles, CA 90012). This is definitely a movie to see again, and we are betting you haven’t seen it on a 52-foot inflatable screen before, so this should be a really fun night.

The music starts at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:30, but you are going to want to come early to get a good spot. The doors open at 5:30, so come join us for some of the greatest food trucks in LA and live music by Beach Party. Outdoor Movie in Pasadena This Weekend Will Be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

We are showing Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on Saturday, June 8 at Centennial Square at Pasadena City Hall (100 North Garfield Avenue). This showing marks our first outdoor movie in Pasadena this year, and we could not think of a better way to return than showing this iconic John Hughes film in front of the beautiful city hall building. On June 1, we’ll be showing everyone’s favorite 90s girl power movie Clueless at Paul Revere Middle School (1450 Allenford Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90049). Join us as we follow valley girl Cher (Alicia Silverstone) as she attempts to navigate young adulthood in Los Angeles with her equally misguided but well-intentioned friends Dionne (Stacey Dash), Tai (Brittany Murphy), and Murray (Donald Faison), as well as her older ex-step-brother-turned-love-interest Josh, played by Paul Rudd.

LA Drive In Movie Featuring TED This Saturday!

We are showing Seth Macfarlane’s Ted this Saturday May 18, 2013 at Los Angeles Trade Tech College (400 W Washington Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90015) in a drive-in setting with stunning views of the Downtown LA skyline, as the backdrop with the Santa Monica & San Gabriel Mountains, the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory rounding out the amazing views. Our Downtown LA drive in promises to be a fun night, complete with lots of Ted movie swag giveaways courtesy of Universal Pictures, live music presented by Origami Vinyl with alternative/pop band Montë Mar and folk/pop duo The Ultimate Bearhug. Snackage will be provided by some of the best food trucks in town:

Baby’s Badass Burgers: These chicks know how to stack a good burger. With offerings like the Cougar (aged beef, St. Andre cheese, black truffles), the Mamacita (pepper jack, guacamole, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos), and The Bombshell (half pound burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches, topped with onions), there’s nothing not to love.

LA Outdoor Movie Raiders of the Lost Ark Premieres May 11

On Saturday, May 11 we are showing Raiders of the Lost Arkthe first Indiana Jones movie, at Paul Revere Middle School. This is a great one to see again and an awesome opportunity if you’ve got kids that have never seen the movie before. What better way to see it for the first time than on the big screen? And not just any big screen, ours is 3.5 stories tall with an image that is 52 feet wide – larger than any other outdoor screen in LA and the largest on the West Coast!

Fresh off the heels of an interactive performance at the Skirball Cultural Center for Gary Baseman’s House Party exhibit, Capital Recording Artist Nightmare & The Cat will perform.
