This weekend, we’re blazing into Griffith Park with awesome LA food trucks, a performance by Kera & the Lesbians and a showing of Blazing Saddles directed by Mel Brooks and starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder. What could be better than watching the satirical Western film on the grounds of The Autry National Center, home to the history of the American West?
Purchasing an Eat|See|Hear event ticket also provides free admission to see select galleries in the museum before the movie. At the door, you’ll be given a special mission for the evening to explore the galleries, seek out specific items, and share pics on social media for a chance to win an awesome prize! To enter, tag your photos with @theautry on both Twitter and Instagram. Also, don’t miss the incredible Route 66 exhibit complete with classic cars, road maps and Jack Kerouac’s original manuscript for On the Road. Plus this week only, the first 1000 people through the door will receive a bandana from The Autry and a shot glass from Showtime.
Griffith Park is a great location to host Eat|See|Hear events because the Autry has a lush, flat and expansive lawn perfect for sprawling out, lounging and watching movies on the biggest outdoor inflatable screen west of the Mississippi. There’s no seating here except the lawn, so we recommend bringing blankets, cushions and pillows for comfort. You can bring low-back beach-style chairs, too, but please refrain from bringing taller lawn or stadium chairs. These can block the view of others and you will be asked to move to the sides to keep the view open for everyone.
The Autry is located across the street from the LA Zoo, where you’ll find free parking for our event! Dogs are welcome and there will be free biscuits for all of our four-legged friends.
Family friendly and perfect for picnics, Griffith Park has hosted other Eat|See|Hear events including Jaws on July 5 and more recently American Psycho on July 19th. Coming up later this month, we’ll also be showing Purple Rain on August 16 and Django Unchained on August 30.
You can purchase tickets in advance through Eventbrite for all of our events.
