Paul Revere Middle School, our host on Saturday, May 31, is featured in the 2012 Judd Apatow film This Is 40. A standalone sequel to Knocked Up, the film stars Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann as husband and wife Pete and Debbie. Several memorable scenes featuring Melissa McCarthy were filmed at Paul Revere, generating nearly $60,000 in filming fees, according to Film LA.
This Is 40 was also filmed on location at the gorgeous Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes (but, unfortunately, the scene didn’t make the final cut).
Located in Brentwood, Paul Revere Middle School has students in grades 6-8. Founded in 1955, the school is also known for its auditorium acoustics and has previously hosted the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra.
On May 31, Paul Revere will host an evening with Eat|See|Hear. Doors open at 5:30 at the entrance on Allenford Avenue just south of Sunset. There is parking available on site for $5 and limited street parking is available too. Check for signage and park in the right spots so you don’t end up ticketed or towed! You can also arrive on two wheels, as plenty of space to park and store bicycles will be available.
Arrive early to stake out your seats, fill up from the food trucks and see Sea Lions perform live at 7:00 p.m. At 8:30, we’ll show Napoleon Dynamite, the 2004 cult classic starring Jon Heder. This award-winning film debuted at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and went on to gross more than 196% of its budget! Rated PG, this comedy is perfect for an evening of family fun!
The evening is also dog-friendly, so bring your four-legged friends along (and they’ll get a free biscuit at the door). Tickets are $10 in advance and will also be available at the door for $12, cash or credit. Come on out and Vote for Pedro!
